“Void” (nietig) is often referred to as “null and void” (van rechtswege nietig) means that the consequences of such a decision apply retroactively from the moment the decision was made that was annulled so that the situation was returned to the way it was before the decision was made. Meanwhile, “voidable” (vernietigbaar) means that the cancellation of the decision is not retroactive. The consequences that have occurred between the time of the cancellation of the decision and the time of the cancellation of the decision in question are considered valid.
