Today’s Legal Enlightenment (Thursday, 15 September 2022) – EQUALIZING WOMEN’S INHERITANCE RIGHTS

To promote gender equality, the rights of women and men are equal in law, so it is fair and proper that the property of the deceased person must be divided equally by the heirs without distinguishing between men and women, especially since the Chinese customary law is unwritten and must adapt to the times. It is unfair to position the eldest son as the sole beneficiary of the parent’s inheritance of permanent property while the daughter only gets jewelry.
