Corruption, Corrosion, and Decay of “Rule of Law”

Sigit Riyanto:

(Professor of the Faculty of Law and Advisor to the Judicial Reform Team)

Significant and broad judicial power must be accounted for and therefore must be exercised in a transparent manner. The independence and accountability of judicial powers are needed simultaneously and mutually to reinforce the implementation of the functions of an independent and credible judiciary.

When judicial power does not function properly and correctly, the rule of law decays. Legislative instruments are available, and law enforcement agencies are formed, but truth and justice cannot be presented.
