Today’s Legal Enlightenment (Monday, December 13, 2021)-ELECTRICITY THEFT IS A CORRUPTION CRIME

The director of a factory cooperating with former PLN employees has cut off the zegel, opened the door of the KWH Meter box, lowered the KWH meter number and then closed it with a fake zegel. By changing the KWH number, the payment to PLN is small even though the usage is big. PLN as a State-Owned Company suffered huge losses. This act is not only a crime of theft of electricity (Article 362 of the Criminal Code) but also a crime of corruption as regulated in Article 1 (1) to 1 sub “a” in conjunction with Article 34 (c) Law No. 3/1971 on Corruption.
