Today’s Legal Enlightenment  (Thursday, 4 August 2022) – “DEFINITION OF CROWN WITNESS AND THE SUPREME COURT’S DECISION REGARDING CROWN WITNESS”

In the Supreme Court Decision No. 2437 K/Pid.Sus/2011, a Crown Witness is defined as a witness who comes from or is taken from one of the suspects or other defendants who jointly commit a criminal act. (Source: Hukumonline, 20 August 2019)

The examination of a Crown Witness must not be conducted because it is contrary to the Indonesian criminal procedure law, which upholds human rights principles. (Supreme Court Decision No. 1174 K/Pid/1994, dated 3 May 1995 jo. Number 1592 K/Pid/1994, 3 May 1995.)
