Today’s Legal Enlightenment (Thursday, 20 October 2022) – THE RIGHT TO EXECUTE PLEDGED SHARES

The pledgee holds the right to execute pledged shares as long as the agreement is still valid. The expiration of a pledge does not have to be because the guaranteed debt has been paid off. The shares are bound as collateral only for a period of time that has been agreed upon by the parties and not until the entire debt is paid off. It is possible for a shares pledge agreement to end without the release/settlement of the guaranteed debt.
