Today’s Legal Enlightenment (Sunday, 11 September 2022)

Prof. Basuki Rekso Wibowo:

Morally, ethically and spiritually, a judge’s decision should ideally be the result of a process of ijtihad and inner struggle through a transcendental spiritual dialogue between the judge and the all-just God to gain enlightenment and inner purification about how the decision should be made.

A judge who has integrity, credibility, morality, and a high sense of responsibility will be overshadowed by feelings of fear of bearing sin, punishment, and curse from Allah SWT, if it turns out that they will decide a case that is contrary to the values of justice and humanity that are rooted in irah-irah “for the sake of justice based on the Almighty God.”
